Job Description

As a Software Engineering Lead in the R&D team, you’ll be responsible for delivering quality software by applying sound development practices and leveraging test-driven development methodology. Based on user stories and functionality specification, you will develop software components as they relate to our Mobile Workforce Management.  You will work with back-end and front-end components as well as web map-based technology (Nokia HERE, ESRI, and Google Maps) and will be reporting to a Development Manager and help guide our Software Engineering team towards success.

The products you’ll help create have real world impact.  Built specifically for electric, gas and water utilities, our solutions rapidly automate and optimize any field work activity or process, improving outage response times and worker effectiveness. The results are improved reliability and responsiveness, increased worker safety and productivity, and a reduced environmental impact as compared to traditional utility operations.  Large and small utilities globally rely on us to keep their crew and customers safe.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions
  • Design and develop scalable and maintainable software systems using software design patterns and architecture principles
  • Lead a team of developers to deliver high-quality software products on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA analysts and other team members to complete tasks and issues prior to delivery to customers and Client Services
  • Create test automation scripts for newly developed functionality
  • Assist in the estimation of user stories prior to selection for development
  • Perform user story analysis during the initial development stages

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of development experience with .NET Framework Web Applications in C# (ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, and WCF)
  • 5 years of experience using relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle)
  • Exceptional technical problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of delivering an end-to-end solution from inception to delivery
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud compatibility is an asset
  • Experience with web-based map platforms is an asset
  • Experience with web based development is an asset (JavaScript, MVVM frameworks, CSS, HTML 5)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience and education
  • Strong written, verbal and listening skills in both one-on-one and larger groups across our global team
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve their technical skills
