Quality Assurance Consultant (Capital Markets)

Role Profile

Quality Assurance Consultants are experienced software testing specialists working in scrum teams with developers to make sure that no bugs escape to user acceptance testing or production environments.

Over time, the effectiveness of the individual will be measured by:

  • The number of defects leaked to UAT and / or Production by the allocated team.
  • On time completion of all testing planned.
  • The amount of automaton implemented in teams.
  • Complete adherence to LSEG Tech SDLC.

Quality Assurance Consultants will report to QA Manger role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the team in requirements grooming to understand the business requirements and test requirements.
  • Help the team to create required acceptance criteria covering the requirements, cross functional and other aspects of the systems such as load, performance and fault tolerance in GWT (Given, When, Then) format.
  • Work with the team to maintain and update automated test scripts based on agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Review tests created by other team members for coverage and negative scenarios.
  • Execute and report results of automated and manual tests with the team.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues in automated test scripts.
  • Report issues and anomalies in the system in the issue tracking system
  • Communicate any unforeseen issues that’s affecting own work to Scrum Maser, Product Owner or to reporting leads or managers as required.
  • Provide daily, weekly status updates to managers.
  • Assist/guide junior team members.
  • Research in to new QA tools methodologies and suggest improvements to the team.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in software development life cycle, preferably in development or automated testing multi-tiered applications.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a software developer or a test automation engineer.
  • Experience in, Linux / UNIX operating systems, Networks, Databases, Software configuration management, Shell scripting, SQL, and programming in Java.
  • Experience in, writing software and test automation scripts using Java/JUnit, Perl, Python any other technologies.
  • Experience in, different software development and software testing methodologies and processes such as waterfall, agile and BDD.
  • Exposure to continuous integrations and continuous testing using Bamboo or Jenkins is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in Load, Performance, Fault Tolerance and Security testing is highly desirable.
  • Ability to identify relevant test scenarios for given business scenarios and create optimum tests to verify the functionality.
  • Ability to write efficient, clean automated tests and troubleshoot failures.
  • Ability to grasp new technologies and domains is essential.
  • Outgoing personality with a strong mentality and desire to succeed.
  • High attention to details and strong communication skills with ability to work under pressure.
  • Maintain professional working relationship with team members.
  • Ability to guide and train junior team members.
