IREX/PRO-INFO is seeking a highly skilled video editor for its citizen journalism platform, CitizensConnect.
The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) is
implementing the USAID-funded Promoting Positive Information
(PRO-INFO) activity. PRO-INFO envisions a robust and vibrant media and
information ecosystem that contains multiple and diverse voices,
rooted in an enabling environment that firmly protects freedom of
expression, with independent media and information actors operating as
professional and financially sustainable entities that provide
relevant, fair, and fact-based content to informed and engaged
citizens.
SUMMARY
As part of its
efforts to amplify stories from underserved and marginalized
communities, IREX has developed a citizen journalism platform to
showcase stories that do not often appear in mainstream media. IREX
hopes that this effort will contribute to the development of a highly
skilled and ethical community of citizen journalists.
The video editor will collaborate closely with the IREX/PRO-INFO team to manage post-production, scheduling, and video publication on CitizensConnect's Facebook and TikTok platforms. They will coordinate with the team and consultants to finalize the content. This position is contingent on funding.
DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design video elements such as
intros, outros, disclaimers, and other components based on
guidance from the IREX/PRO-INFO team.
• Craft engaging
thumbnails for videos.
• Coordinate the scheduling and release of
edited videos on CitizensConnect's social media
platforms,
following IREX/PRO-INFO team's directives.
• Tailor videos to
match the specifications and quality standards of diverse social media
platforms.
• Guarantee punctual and precise video
completion.
• Keep a comprehensive log of all multimedia content
produced and posted.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable
experience.
• Prior experience in video editing, graphic design,
and digital storytelling is advantageous.
• Recognized credentials
in video editing.
• Proficiency in Sinhala and/or Tamil,
complemented by a solid understanding of English.
• Computer
skills encompassing MS Office suites and other relevant communication
applications.
• Robust interpersonal and communication skills,
coupled with a knack for teamwork and individual
initiative.
• Capacity to work autonomously and
collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility and adherence to
deadlines.
Compensation: This is a vendor position, and
selected individuals/organizations will be compensated at
a rate
per video they complete, as determined by IREX.
Applications will be evaluated based on whether CVs meet qualifications and cost appropriateness of daily rate.
