The Director of Marketing and Communications for Hilton Colombo is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to drive revenue growth, enhance brand visibility and strengthen market positioning. This leadership role works closely with Commercial, Sales, Revenue and Operations Teams to ensure that all initiatives are aligned with Hilton's global brand standards while effectively responding to local market opportunities and dynamics.
**What will I be doing?**
As the Director of Marketing and Communications for Hilton Colombo, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
**Strategic Leadership**
+ Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies and activation plans for Hilton Colombo, ensuring alignment with Hilton's regional and global objectives, guided by in-depth market knowledge of Sri Lanka and other key and emerging GOB markets.
+ Lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, traditional media, and public relations to enhance brand equity and commercial outcomes.
+ Ensure consistency in brand messaging, voice, and visual identity across all guest and customer-facing touchpoints.
**Commercial and Brand Growth**
+ Collaborate with commercial and operations teams to drive revenue across rooms, F&B, MICE, Weddings & Social events, wellness, and ancillary services.
+ Identify and activate marketing campaigns, partnerships, and promotions that support business goals and stimulate incremental demand.
+ Monitor campaign effectiveness and marketing ROl, continuously refining strategies to enhance performance.
**Content Management & Channel Optimization**
+ Oversee the creation, management, and distribution of high-quality content across all B2C channels including the hotel website, social media, email, and Hilton Honors platforms.
+ Manage presence and content accuracy across Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and other third-party platforms.
+ Ensure timely updates of marketing & Sales collateral, room descriptions, imagery, and offers across all channels.
+ Lead the planning and execution of professional photo and videography projects for all properties, maintaining a consistent and premium visual brand representation.
**Digital and Social Media Marketing**
+ Develop and execute digital strategies including SEO/SEM, paid media, CRM campaigns, and performance analytics.
+ Lead content strategy and editorial calendar for social media platforms and external agencies.
+ Manage hotel F&B e-commerce platform in compliance with Hilton's IT standards and guidelines.
**Public Relations and Media Engagement**
+ Serve as the media spokesperson for Hilton Colombo when required and build strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
+ Manage all aspects of public relations, including press releases, crisis communication, media events, and thought leadership initiatives.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**
+ Represent Marketing and Communications in business focus meetings, providing strategic insights and aligning marketing efforts with broader commercial objectives.
+ Partner with the General Manager, Heads of Departments, and Hilton's regional marketing support teams to share best practices and ensure cohesive execution of initiatives.
**Team Leadership**
+ Lead and develop a high-performing marketing team through strategic direction, coaching, and performance management.
+ Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that supports professional growth and operational excellence.
+ Budget and Vendor Management
+ Prepare and manage the marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation and return on investment.

- Participates in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.
- Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
**Analyzing & Reporting on Sales and Financial Data**
- Analyzes market information by using sales systems and implements strategy to achieve property's financial room and catering goals.
- Assists Revenue Management with completing accurate six period projections.
- Reviews sales and catering guest satisfaction results to identify areas of improvement.
**Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service**
- Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies customer service and creates a positive example for guest relations.
- Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
- Meets with guests during pre- and post-convention meetings to obtain feedback on quality of product (e.g., rooms, meeting facilities and equipment, food and beverage), service levels, execution against contract and overall satisfaction.
- Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
- Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback to individuals and/or managers.
- Incorporates guest satisfaction as a component of department meetings with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ensures that a customer recognition program is in effect throughout Sales.
- Executes and supports the company's Customer Service Standards and property's Brand Standards.
- Participates in and practices daily service basics of the brand.
- Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
- Serves the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to the company.
- Gains understanding of the property's primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.
**Building Successful Relationships**
- Develops and manages relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels (e.g., Event Booking Center, Market Sales, GSO) to ensure the property needs are being achieved and the sales efforts are complementary, not duplicative.
- Works with Human Resources, Engineering and Loss Prevention to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and/or union requirements.
- Attends customer events, trade shows and sales missions to maintain, build or develop key relationships with GSO Managers and customers.
